Biography:
Dwayne Dibbley is a fictional character from the British science fiction sitcom, Red Dwarf. He is primarily portrayed by actor Robert Llewellyn.
Dibbley is presented as the evolved form of Kryten, the mechanoid cleaner robot. Appearing frequently in later series, Dibbley is a markedly different personality than Kryten. He is characterized by his extreme geekiness, obsessive fascination with science fiction (particularly Star Trek), and socially awkward demeanor.
Unlike Kryten's dutiful and subservient programming, Dibbley is often selfish, lazy, and preoccupied with his own interests. His advanced nanobot technology allows him to shapeshift, leading to various comedic situations where he adopts different appearances and personalities. His catchphrase is often some variation of "It's my hobby!"
Dwayne Dibbley offers a stark contrast to Kryten's original programming, exploring themes of individuality, free will, and the potential for unexpected evolution in artificial intelligence within the comedic context of Red Dwarf.
